The matte-paint problem
Matte clear coat is a textured surface — micro-roughness that scatters light is what makes it look flat and uniform. Anything that fills in that micro-roughness (wax, polish, gloss agent in shampoo) makes the paint reflect light differently, creating shiny patches that contrast against the rest of the matte finish.
